Every great meal starts with knowing where to go.
Explore RestaurantsMilford has a 100% vegan Thai restaurant. A Korean fusion wine bar. A5 Wagyu served tableside. A taqueria pressing its own corn tortillas, and a Scandinavian bakery that sells out before noon on Saturdays.
Takapuna has a beachfront bistro doing Lobster Tail Benedict, a Filipino restaurant winning national awards, and a Colombian wood-fired grill smoking ribs for 24 hours.
Most people driving through had no idea any of it was there. EatsAKL is here to change that. Real menus, real prices, and nothing else getting in the way of deciding where to eat.

The Shore's most diverse dining strip. Kitchener Road runs dense and walkable — 33 restaurants covering everything from a $7 taco to A5 Wagyu served tableside.
22 restaurants on the beach and around it. Brilliant for a long Saturday breakfast, equally good for dinner — Filipino, Italian, Colombian, Vietnamese and more.

Use the occasion filter — Sunday brunch, date night, quick lunch, group dinner. We'll point you in the right direction.

EatsAKL is built on real relationships. These are the Milford businesses we work alongside — and genuinely recommend.
EatsAKL was built through the Openground entrepreneurship programme — a hands-on programme where students work alongside real mentors to build actual businesses. This is where it started.
Smash burgers done the right way. Simple menu, quality ingredients, and a $12.50 cheeseburger that's genuinely hard to beat.
Swedish cinnamon and cardamom buns baked from scratch in Milford. Worth the drive from anywhere on the Shore.
A no-nonsense guide to eating well on the North Shore
I built this because I was tired of not being able to find somewhere to eat. Not because there is nothing good out there. The North Shore has some genuinely brilliant restaurants. But working out what is actually on the menu, what it costs, whether it is even open that day? Somehow that ends up being a whole thing.
I have an egg allergy too, which makes it worse. Every time I try somewhere new I am doing a full investigation before I even get in the car. Dead links. PDFs that will not load. Review sites that tell me everything except what I actually need to know. It wears you down.
EatsAKL is the thing I kept wishing someone would build. Full menus. Real prices. Hours that are actually right. All of it on your phone, before you commit. Milford and Takapuna are live. More is coming.
No star ratings. No clickbait about hidden gems. Just the menus, the prices, and enough context to make your own call.
Between Milford and Takapuna there is an extraordinary amount going on. Vegan Thai. A Korean fusion wine bar. A Scandinavian bakery that sells out before noon on Saturdays. A5 Wagyu served tableside. A taqueria pressing its own corn tortillas. A Filipino restaurant winning national awards. A Colombian grill smoking ribs for 24 hours. Most people driving past had no idea any of it was there.
We cover independent spots, not chains. The kind of places where the owner is usually in the kitchen.
Real menus, real prices, real hours. Updated when things change. No filler.
Dining with allergies is stressful enough. Allergen information is coming to the site so you can check before you go, not after you have already sat down.
Every place on here is genuinely worth visiting. That is the only filter that matters.
We are just getting started. Browns Bay, Devonport, Birkenhead, Northcote are all coming. More menus, more detail, and allergen information across the whole site so people like me can actually plan a meal without the stress.
Bigger things are in the works. If you want to be involved as a restaurant, a partner, or just someone with a tip on a great spot we have missed, we would love to hear from you.
Something wrong? A menu that has changed? A restaurant we are missing? Or just want to say hi. We would genuinely love to hear from you.
